Being a class 10th student, it's so relatable 🥲 I think every school should give career counselling sessions. Most 10th graders under peer pressure choose their stream and regret later in life. Parents should also understand that Science is not the only stream which will help your child to have a great career in future. Every stream has scope provided that you have keen interest in it.

Nyctophile ਮਹੀਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ
@Shikhar dixit wtf essential services? commerce people gives the most essential services to the country. Nothing can be more important than tax system, economy and financial markets. And you are talking about Indian economy which itself run by Bankers.
Nyctophile ਮਹੀਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ
@Shikhar dixit But without commerce nothing can run... Civil servants are arts people not science lol. Industries? which industries you are talking about all industries are run under commerce.
Shikhar dixitਮਹੀਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ
@ Nyctophile kuch time pehle there was a protest of NEET PG students for counselling.Police said nothing to them because they were doing protest peacefully but after some time doctors also joined that peaceful protest within 24 hours the protest was stopped by police.India's economy got a huge impact by this protest.Imagine if the protest will not stop and remain only for 3-4 days what will be the condition of India's economy. This is the importance of essential services which include 80% of science stream students.
Nyctophile ਮਹੀਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ
@Shikhar dixit Wait.. you understand it wrong. Not everyone needs doctors means not every organization hires a doctor right? They work for hospitals only. But if you've studied anything under commerce you can work for anything! Even hospitals needs healthcare managers, financial managers etc. I know doctors are necessary but they can only work in a hospital.
Shikhar dixitਮਹੀਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ
@ Nyctophile And to prove your stream is good .No need to talking bad about any other stream. Essential services of India includes Army,Doctors,Transportation,Civil servants, industries(which includes risk of life) all these professions have majority of science stream students. If anyone of these professions will not be there then India will become a failed nation.

As a commerce student who is about the finish his school, my advice to youngsters is that pick stream according to your interests and strengths. You know that in US, people take humanities subjects seriously and most of them have end up in major corporate bodies like CEO of Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, World Bank, and even McKinsey.
BANGTAN GIRL 💜ਦਿਨ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ
@JC Entertainment yup right
Nyctophile ਮਹੀਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ
@Mannan Morvi And it's totally right (in India). Because it will be unfair to those who have studied hard I mean studying economics or finance is no joke and they are giving jobs to history grads? I mean are we wasting our time studying math, accounts, stats etc? Following system is better than just giving jobs to anyone I mean I am confused how a person with history or any science background can do a Finance job? It's not even easy to study finance and working in it is so hard then how a history or science major who doesn't even know the real meaning of finance can work in a bank?
Mannan Morviਮਹੀਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ
@ Nyctophile You know what? You are right. In international countries, there is not a barrier to become you want but in India, there is. India is different from those countries. There is a system you have to follow here.
Nyctophile ਮਹੀਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ
@Mannan Morvi But big audit firms only hire people with accounting background. Big banks mostly hire people with finance, economics background. Consulting firms like McKinsey only want people with Business Management/Administration degree. How people with arts or other background know these things lol? Even if you are saying that those people with History degree works in banks they most probably working in some other areas not exactly in Finance or Investment Management, PE etc.
Mannan Morviਮਹੀਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ
@ Nyctophile In US, even a BA in History or Political Science, can work in top firms. David Solomon, the current CEO of Goldman Sachs is from humanities background and he did a BA in Pol Sci and Govt.

Honestly speaking, I started thinking of choosing a career from class 6. Now I'm in 12th and I'm not confused anymore. Started thinking about stream from class 9 and not after 10th result. For choosing a stream, you need to consider what are your subjects gonna be, depending on that you'll find it easy to choose a stream. Just research a little on the topics which will be covered in those subjects so that you'll be able to understand in 11th/12th and not sit there dumbstruck. While choosing my stream, I considered the subjects, topics covered and school nearby. Now I'm fully satisfied without any regrets while many fellow classmates change their stream from science to commerce or Commerce to humanities because they regret their choices later. Never ever blindly follow anything, don't listen to what stream your parents want you to take, don't take stream just because your friend is taking that too. Go to your teachers, talk with them, understand what topics will be covered and then make a decision. Because once you choose a stream you can't easily change it, right? Either you'll have a lot of difficulties in changing or else you'll keep regretting. So choose wisely. Hope that helps.

I had taken mixed science where I have chosen Psychology instead of maths . After my final boards this year , I have thought for opting Psychology as major but many people think it as a stream of humanities and not science , which is absolutely wrong . Psychology is social science in which a student can either opt for BSc. ( Hons ) degree or B.A. ( Hons ) degree depending on their elective subjects . Now people ask me _"after studying science for 2 years you will apply for arts degree ?"_ which literally irritates me because of listening to the cheap mindset of people who think like this . They are don't know about the subject and moreover now also people see humanities as a very easy stream which according to them can be a an option for anyone , which is not true . Being a science student I can say , I have friends who are having humanities are having the same load as me and also it is absolutely not very easy . Every stream has it's own pros and cons but the importance of every stream is equal . So it's a request to all , don't discriminate among the stream , choose whatever you like and opt for the one you are most interested in .

Cuz for a phycologist only degree is not better these days.for me i live in South India , Telengana , Hyderabad.so her after 10 we choose .i choosed CEC - (commerce - accounts ) (economics),(civics ) these three means cec here. Accounts also comes in commerce only. Then we study these in 11 &12 and we say intermediate not 11 &12 actually then u we go for degree where now I'm going to pursue for BA psychology. I'm writing my 12 th (intermediate 2nd yr) boards next mon btw

Choose your streams wisely, Choose that stream which you are intrested in, Science,Commerce and Arts are equally important for a nation to grow, Every stream has equal job opportunities, After all your happiness matters not the money, At the end some May question themselves (Agar yeh stream lei le the toh aaj kuch aur hi karke dikhate) Don’t give a chance to your life to be regretted about your decision.

@Vinayak Tripathi Many people work in the IT sector despite being from a commerce background it is not always necessary to be in science for software and more, over if there is some accountancy works in some work the engineers would be stuck but those who become by taking commerce will not
Vinayak Tripathiਮਹੀਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ
Every stream does 'not' have equal job opportunities. Don't get me wrong but this is the bitter truth. Sure, There are a lot of opportunities in this world (India), example, Government Jobs, private buisness, teaching, Media, Acting, etc, that anyone from above mentioned streams(Science, Comm., Arts) can take up. But keep in mind few things: Mathematics: A lot of government jobs specifically require candidates from the PCM stream (NDA, Govt. Engineering Jobs, all the PSUs(BHEL, SAIL, ONGC, HAL etc). In private sector, The IT and Technology field is blooming in India. It is the best time to work in this field, it requires an engineering degree in a related comp.field( CSE, ECE or EE). When you apply for government jobs, lot of them(not all) have a mathematics and Aptitude section, taking PCM can surely help you in that. I can list 20 more career prospects like the above in PCM and the list can go on and on. You may not want to be an Engineer, but sure by taking Mathematics, you are definitely not making a mistake (except in one case mentioned below). I am telling this because I am a Mathematics student myself. DON'T TAKE ANY STREAM WHICH YOU DON'T LIKE (HATE). YOU WILL END UP DOING MORE HARM THAN GOOD. I TOOK MATHS BECAUSE I LIKED MATHEMATICS AND PHYSICS.

For someone who just gave boards,I didn't even actually know what I wanted to do.Then I decided that I shall take arts but when everybody talked only about science, I lost my confidence. I felt guilty for not taking science when I took advance maths as an elective subject. But few days ago I talked about it with my parents and luckily they asked me to do whatever I want and not to feel guilty. I like doing maths but I don't want to take science so I chose eco stats maths and learning music along with it. Any stream can be helpful, we just have to work hard.

@MorangJ Thanks for your reply bro...I want subject combinations like yours but unfortunately my state doesn't offer something like this...btw which state you are from? What are your plans after 12th?
MorangJ18 ਦਿਨ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ
@Ramesh My subjects are English economics ,statistics ,maths, psychology or computer science and haven't decided the last. My board was state board but from 11th it's quite similar to other boards. Regarding your subjects I can't say much as it completely depends upon what u want to become and what you like learning but I heard that the subject combination is good for civil service exam and it can give you many career options. Search online it might give you a clear idea

@Ramesh sorry for not explaining it properly. I mean Economics statistics maths which is also known as semi science. But in some colleges it might be considered under arts stream. I used to hate subjects taught in humanities in my junior classes. But when you know, you just know. & so, I knew right from class 8 that I am going to choose humanities. People that time told me that I was still young enough to decide what to choose after 10th right from then. But my decision was completely mine & fixed to the core. It was one of the first important decisions I'd taken in my life & I never thought I'd be so crystal clear in my choice 😃 My 12th boards in a few weeks & doesn't matter where I head to in my future, what my future would turn into, but this single decision would always make me proud whenever I'd look back. Period.

You shouldn't fall under peer pressure as well, research properly and decide what you want to be in the future (being video editor in my case) and take your stream according to that and that only.

As always it's an amazing video. As you approached this topic we all can say that it was something we all went through. I still remember me choosing science was completely was my family's decision. I wanted to take arts or eco science. But as you know not everyone could fight for themselves. But still it was not bad no... as some of us gets confused about what to choose. So parents helping them out to pick out the correct stream is not bad but they should give their child the freedom to have what they want.

Okk, I see a lot of students who want to take science but are fearing from it.. As a science student, Let me tell you.. Look, You can not always imagine the study level to be same, You are growing, So are your study levels, It cant always be easy like 5th class , learn to accept that . Now, You know why people say science is hard?? They dont study consistently, And by consistently , I mean atleast 3 hours a day (self study not watching yt lectures and tuition) thats the main problem. I got 94 in tenth , Chose pcb, And in 11th, got 82 percentage(started studying seriously only in the last month) The burden became so huge on me because I didnt study consistently throughout the year, Most of the days, I would watch anime and k drama , yt etc and waste the whole day.. This was because, I used to study like this in 10th, Tenth is easy, I scored good in it even after studying only for 2 months and chilling. And this habit if mine was very wrong, I realized this now as I am in 12th... 11th is not a piece of cake , Like 10th was, You need to study and devote hours to it, Syllabus is huge, Better start little by little everyday..

@Uchchaihshravas Kalkaya aim changes over years. Rather, they should select streams on the basis on the subjects which they love, can understand better and enjoy. I loved history, geography, economics and was intersted in it. In these subjects and interested in psychology, hence i took Arts. After that, I decided this year which subject to choose to pursue a career based on my 11th class performance. And in that one year, i had found my solace in geography and psychology.

Listen Phele aim select then it will be easy research on Wikipedia, read articles, discuss with someone u believe lastly try to just loyal to your proffesion in future.

In our school we have stream division from 9th grade and l had to choose between Science and Commerce (because our school didn't get permission for Arts in 9th and 10th grade) and l had to go through the same thing confusion and figuring out my future. Finally ended up choosing Commerce because studying Science is not for me.
